10 Oct Frederick Cooper Birmingham raises £7,000 for the Matt Gallagher Foundation
Frederick Cooper Birmingham Ltd is delighted to announce that its first annual Charity Golf Day, held on 27th September 2024, raised over £7,000 for the Matt Gallagher Foundation, which supports individuals and families affected by Motor Neurone Disease (MND).
The event, hosted at Stratford Park Hotel and Golf Club, saw companies from across the UK manufacturing and engineering sector, come together for a full day of golf, networking and fundraising in support of an important cause.
The £7,202 raised will go directly to the Matt Gallagher Foundation, established by Matt Gallagher and family in October 2023 following Matt’s terminal diagnosis with Motor Neuron Disease. The foundation is dedicated to improving the quality of life for those living with MND and advancing the search for a cure, and has to date supported around 20 families in the West Midlands, to try and lessen the burden of this cruel disease.
Speaking at the event, Frederick Cooper Managing Director, Jon Stone, said:
“I’m proud of what we have achieved together today. We are lucky at Frederick Cooper to work for some amazing customers and suppliers, who all share the same passion for working hard and playing hard. Throw into that mix a great cause like the Matt Gallagher Foundation and you are guaranteed a fun day, full of purpose. We have known the Gallagher family for many years; some of us have played rugby with the Gallagher boys at Coventry and elsewhere, and we have recently bought their old factory site in Bordesley Green, to help catalyse our ambitious expansion plans.
I was surprised to find out that there are only three specialist MND nurses serving the entire West Midlands, one of the UK’s largest health authorities. Matt’s foundation is changing that. At Frederick Cooper we support several charities throughout the year, it’s an important part of who we are as a business.”
The Matt Gallagher Foundation reflected on Frederick Cooper’s efforts:
“We are incredibly grateful for the generous support from Frederick Cooper, in helping to advance the goals of the MGF initiative. Your support is helping us to create a meaningful impact in the communities we serve. We thank you for your unwavering commitment to our mission.”
Looking Forward
With the success of this inaugural golf day, Frederick Cooper plans to make this an annual tradition, continuing to raise awareness and funds for fantastic causes; our immediate attention turns to our Christmas Toy-Link appeal, which will be lead by our Commercial Manager Luke Allsopp.
