Polisher / General Operative

JOB TITLE: Polisher/General Operative

ROLE TYPE: Permanent

HOURS: 39 hours per week

PAY: £11.50 – £13.50 an hour dependent on experience

THE ROLE

Due to the Company’s ongoing success and growth, we have an exciting new position for a Polisher/General Operative. This role requires a team player with knowledge of polishing small to large components from all sectors of industry including the automotive, ensuring that high-quality standards are met whilst maintaining safety protocols.

EXPERIENCE/ SKILLS

  • 2 years polishing experience, techniques, equipment and materials.
  • Can polish a variety of finishes including piano black to a mirror finish.
  • Excellent eyesight and attention to detail.
  • Can work quickly, meeting timing targets, whilst maintaining the quality of the finish.
  • Excellent understanding of various materials and consumables.
  • Can select the appropriate polishes and mop for the job.
  • Can follow works instructions and detailed cosmetic specifications.
  • To be able to identify polishable and non-polishable defects.
  • Experience of inspection criteria such lighting lux levels, viewing time, distance and packing materials.
  • Having the ability to identify all defects and their causes and to be able to make judgement calls based upon borderline criteria/ samples when necessary. E.g. identifying differences between suspect material and paint defects and separate/ record accordingly.
  • Able to use and maintain air tools proficiently.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and respond positively to pressure.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Identifying paint defects and “nibbing” prior to polishing.
  • Polishing different components to various cosmetic requirements, from start to finish.
  • Ensure correct batch process cards and relevant polishing instructions and care points are present before polishing.
  • Follow process cards and works instructions and keep accurate records
  • Keeping works station clean, tidy and uncluttered at all times, eliminating risk of damage to painted components.
  • Maintain equipment by performing routine checks.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
  • General operative duties as required by the business.

Wet Paint Foreman

JOB TITLE: Wet Paint Foreman

ROLE TYPE: Permanent

HOURS: 41.5 hours per week

SALARY: £30,000 – £40,000 per annum dependent on experience

THE ROLE

Due to the Company’s ongoing success and growth, we have an exciting new position for a Wet Paint Foreman. This role requires a team player with expert knowledge in all types of wet paint spraying processes, who will oversee the operational delivery, success and growth in this area of the business.

EXPERIENCE/ SKILLS

  • To have a background as an experienced paint sprayer with extensive knowledge of spraying many types of substrates in all types of materials (from primers to metallics and lacquers), using 1 and 2k products.
  • 5+ years’ experience, managing a shop floor team running multiple paint lines / departments, achieving company objectives.
  • Knowledge and understanding of IS0 9007:2015 or equivalent.
  • To have good people management skills with experience in actioning and maintaining company disciplinary and H&S requirements.
  • Ensure high levels of Housekeeping, working to 5S.
  • Able to work to the highest quality required for A1 automotive standards.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Understand how equipment, from spray guns to spray booths and ovens, operate.
  • Ability to simultaneously perform multiple tasks, meeting deadlines and responding positively to pressure
  • Problem-solving attitude makes effective decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • IT skills: Excel and Word.
  • Able to train ALL operators on a line, from General Operatives, Sprayers and Inspectors.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the daily operational management of a Wet Paint Team.
  • Production and Labour planning, working closely with Account Managers.
  • Monitor production efficiency and able to produce performance KPI information.
  • Conduct briefings to the teams providing performance feedback and targets and objectives.
  • Attending and contributing to internal and external (customer) meetings.
  • Ensuring daily operation KPI’s are met effectively and efficiently.
  • Able to identify areas of continuous improvement and deliver the relevant training.
  • Highlight to senior management any critical situations which could impact on production.
  • To be responsible for the day-to-day quality and production output of your team.
  • Escalate issues as and when they occur.
  • Support other teams in achieving company targets.
  • Ensuring compliance with Health & Safety regulation

Wet Paint Sprayer

JOB TITLE: Wet Paint Sprayer/General Operative

ROLE TYPE: Permanent

HOURS: 39 hours per week

PAY: £12.50 – £14.50 an hour dependent on experience

THE ROLE

Due to the Company’s ongoing success and growth, we have an exciting new position as a Wet Paint Sprayer/General Operative. This role requires a team player, with extensive hand spraying experience with primers, basecoats, metallics and lacquers. As well as having 1 and 2k paint mixing and component preparation knowledge; ensuring high-quality standards are met whilst maintaining safety protocols.

EXPERIENCE/ SKILLS

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience, spraying all types of paints, onto automotive components of various sizes.
  • Ability to spray high volume components to a consistently high-quality standard, throughout a shift.
  • Knowledge of all types of substrates and their preparation prior to painting.
  • Understanding of spray equipment, from stripping and cleaning spray guns to spray-booth maintenance.
  • Able to independently set up and adjust spray gun settings as per works instructions, and competently spray specific jobs unsupervised.
  • Very good attention to detail, spraying high-end cosmetic automotive parts.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and respond positively to pressure.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Able to spray components continuously throughout your shift to meet customer demand.
  • Can work speedily with no detriment to quality, managing time well with no loss of output.
  • To understand and work to detailed Process Card, works instructions.
  • Maintain equipment by performing routine checks.
  • Keep environment and equipment clean and in good working order.
  • Ensuring PPE is worn at all times. Whilst carrying out daily maintenance of Air fed masks (including air pressure settings).
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and proper handling of hazardous materials.
  • General operative duties as required by the business
